Louisiana State University (LSU) is a public research university founded in 1853 based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under the name Louisiana State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy. The University enrolled over 25,000 undergraduate and over 5,000 graduate students in 14 schools and colleges in 2017. It is one of the eight universities in the United States with dental, law, veterinary, medical and Master of Business Administration programs. The current LSU campus is located on 1,000 acres which is just south of downtown Baton Rouge. All the employees of the university play a critical role in achieving success in classrooms, communities and offices and fostering an environment to support the university’s mission of providing world-class education and successful development of the students.There are over 350 student organizations currently active at LSU which includes a student government and a total of 36 fraternities and sororities. The mission of the university is to enhance diversity which is a core institutional value. It is committed to create and maintain a living and learning environment that embraces individual difference.
