Making Waves has been dedicated to rigorously and holistically training students for admission and graduation from college for almost 30 years, gradually becoming important contributions to their neighborhoods and local staff. Making Waves opened with two classes of 46 students, and now serves approximately 950 students at Making Waves Academy in grades 5 through 12 and 600 students in the College and Alumni Program (CAP). Its goal is to encourage college-bound, career-minded, socially underrepresented, and underserved youth educational opportunities. Its goal, however, is to have a world in which all young people have access to high-quality educational opportunities and the resources to pursue achievement, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status.
