Job Description

Requisition Number17-2776 TitleInventory Manager CityAlbany StateNY DescriptionResponsible for the overall accuracy and efficiency of inventory counts at our retail clients. The Inventory Manager must plan, coordinate organize and conduct inventory events effectively, manage employees from multiple offices to optimize performanceand achieve financial expectations. Encourages interface with customers through frequent communication, so that a high level of customer service is achieved. Candidates who are best suited come from Retail Management, Restaurant Management, Warehouse Managementor Customer Service Management. Coordinate Financial, SKU, Warehouse and Fixed Asset inventories. Ensure each inventory meets its expected accuracy and productivity, adheres to Company Standards and is as efficient as possible. Ensure the team assigned is prepared for the count. Implement the required planning for key inventory events. Direct and supervise a team of Inventory Associates and Inventory Supervisors during an inventory event. Ensure employees have been assigned duties based on skill levels, training needs and customerrequirements. Conduct quality control re-checks as necessary. Manages a regular team of two or more employees (up to 25) to to optimize performance. Provide communication, and coaching as required. Encourage innovative ideas. Be proactive in anticipating, and planning for the number of employees required and the staffingrequirements of the inventory events. Promote good customer service in every interaction with the customer. Ensure that the customers expectations are met as agreed by WIS International. Exceed the customers expectations if possible. Check the customers satisfaction level at the end of the count. May be asked to contribute to sales for the office through developing contacts, follow through on established contacts and referrals. Provide continuous feedback pertaining to all events to the AM and or DM. Assists in assessment, selection hiring and training of Inventory Associates. Holds entire team accountable to procedures and high levels of customer service at each inventory event. Requires a willingness to implementcompany disciplinary procedures when necessary. Responsible for pre inventory calls and/or visits are made in a timely manner. Ensures all inventory events follow the Health&Safety Policies and procedures established by the company. Maintain a safe work environment at all time. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: A minimum two years of college is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience: Normally requires 3 years supervisory experience or previous inventory experience or 12 months experience in a retail or service industry with 1-2 years operations supervisory role where you manage a team of associates in a highly productive environment withdeadlines. Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication\"skills for both supervising employees and working with customers. Operate a computer, calculator and other data entry terminals Acceptable past driving record which meets or exceeds the requirements of the Company driving policy. No more than 2 driving violations in the past 5 years. Flexible, adaptable and innovative approach to learning and problem solving in a hands-on environment. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a customer focus Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to implement account instructions in order to meet financial goals Ability to hold people accountability for their work. Ability to motivate all direct reports to meet or exceed established financial goals. Proficiency in a Windows environment and in personal computer usage is essential. Ability to multitask and delegate effectively. EFFORT FACTORS Physical Demands: Requires frequent walking or standing for prolonged periods of time during an inventory Regularly requires a great deal of visual concentration to read tags, use equipment such as WISard and computer terminals Frequently requires bending, squatting or climbing a stool/ladder to check work done Frequently requires lifting equipment>22lbs Ability to drive safely to required inventory events Mental Demands: Must be mentally adaptable and flexible to deal with a variety of people and changing priorities Must be able to handle the pressure of working to schedules, unusual hours of work, longer than normal days and deadlines Must be able to analyze causes of interpersonal conflict (both with employees and customers) and resolve these sometimes complex issues despite ambiguities Must be able to process and analyze data in a computerized environment Must be able to communicate in a professional manner WORKING CONDITIONS The Inventory Manager is required to have reliable personal transportation as well Internet Access. Depending on the office, there may be occasional to frequent day trips or overnight travel required. The IM will regularly be required to work a varied schedulethat includes working unusual hours of the day, split shifts, longer than normal workdays, weekends and early start times and/or late finish times. The majority of clients inventories start at 6:00 am. Occasionally there may be an inventory in the evening. The IM generally works in a well-maintained public area or similar environment. Occasionally outdoor inventories are conducted for retailers such as home improvement centers, lumber companies, etc. The IM may occasionally be exposed to unusual odors, or excessivenoise, or health hazards or temperature extremes; in which case, proper precautions will be taken to protect the employee.
