Job Summary:

The Manager of both the Palliative Care and the Vanderbilt Interdisciplinary Care Program, is a leadership role that has comprehensive operational authority and responsibility for designated clinical area(s). The responsibilities include: fiscal accountability, maintaining quality and regulatory standards, maintaining a high level of patient/family centered care and service, patient and staff satisfaction, program development, managing and developing teams, and ensuring integration with the clinical enterprise, providing feedback, coaching and mentoring to less experienced peers and other members of the health care team.

3 Round Wing-The Vanderbilt Interdisciplinary Care Program

This Adult Med Surge unit.is located on the 3rd floor of the Round Wing at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

The environment on our unit is friendly, positive, and enthusiastic.

We care for adult patients ranging in age from 18 and older who are being treated for multiple medical conditions often associated with the additional stressors of being under-resourced, homeless, or with addiction issues.

Our patients are unique because we have created a medical home incorporating an interdisciplinary team that collaboratively works to improve health, reduce the dependence of emergency rooms as a primary source of care, and reduce hospital admissions.

Our nurses are successful because they have the dedication to the mission, are knowledgeable, and are proactive.

5 Round Wing-The Palliative Care Unit

The Palliative Care/Medicine unit, is located on the 5th floor of the Round Wing at Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH).

The environment on our unit is dynamic, at times a bit unpredictable, and always values teamwork through an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.

We care for adult patients ranging in age from 18 or older who are being treated for an extremely broad variety of medical conditions.

Our patients are unique because our primary focus is on treating patients suffering from any illness that is expected to be life-ending. We focus on symptom management, life goals, and developing plans of care that value the patients' and their families' wishes and culture.

One of the perks of working on my unit is our deeply-rooted ethos of teamwork.

Our nurses are successful because they have passion, a can-do attitude, and are empathetic.

We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-week orientation with dedicated preceptors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborates to operationalize the mission, strategic plan, budgets, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies for the PCC, Hospitals and Vanderbilt Clinic.

• Prepares annual operating and capital budgets following established guidelines and using benchmark data.

• Develops and monitors the implementation of area specific quality plan linked to organizational goals.
