Job Description


The Manager of Innovation will be a foundational player in this new organization and will report to a Senior Director. He or she will own the process of building out, running, and scaling an innovation team including putting in place the right operational model, metrics, team members, and processes.

An effective manager will be a thought partner to the highest performing product managers in TN and Sabre and will assist them in putting together strong virtual teams to take ideas from conception to product. In addition, he or she will own relationships with design/UX, technology, marketing, legal, sales, lines of business, and other functions making this a true cross-functional leadership role.

Run the Sabre Black program
Manage the process for new idea/new PM selection (Shark Tank)
Manage the ideation and MVP processes for new concepts
Develop and manage an idea/concept backlog
Facilitate the formation, cohesion and effective operation of virtual teams
Coach and mentor product managers through the Design-thinking process
Guide product managers in commercial aspects including providing introductions to sales, marketing, and customers; facilitate customer interactions as needed
Develop metrics and methods to measure effectiveness of program and concepts
Provide regular updates and briefings to senior leaders
Create handoff process for new product operationalization/launch
Liaise and coordinate with technology leaders for MVP staffing and concurrent planning
Assist product managers and teams in developing investment/business cases
Schedule and manage allocated resources
Own commercial, design, legal, LoB, technology and other relationships at the program level
Create platform for innovation within TN and Sabre
Socialize and promote Sabre Black and Innovation at TN, Sabre, and Industry events
Coordinate with Sabre Labs, TN Product Development, and other departments to prioritize various innovation initiatives
Stay up-to-date on TN and Sabre products to generate innovation ideas and drive thinking around innovation
Build an innovation organization by hiring, coaching, and developing direct reports

  • BS in business, engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years previous experience in product management, product marketing, or strategy
  • 2+ years leading small teams
  • Limited travel: 5-10% of time max
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable and able to execute in a matrix environment
  • Highly collaborative and constantly learning
  • Ability to effectively recruit, lead teams and deliver results
  • Strong work ethic; ability to drive self and team without supervision
  • Self-starter; takes the initiative and is extremely proactive
  • Capability to develop and execute long range plans
  • Extremely well organized with strong attention to detail; can track multiple deadlines/priorities
