About Mechanical Drafter

What does a Mechanical Drafter do?

As Mechanical Drafters, we make drawings, specify design dimensions followed by constructing models of mechanical parts and devices. Our job tasks include creating drawings, developing schematics, and 2D and 3D digital models of mechanical equipment designs, using specifications, measurements, and additional data from the engineering team. We coordinate with project managers and engineers to realize project requirements, verify design details and recommend modifications as needed. Our work also covers interpreting and verify all technical and numerical specifications in drawings and schematics, using both computer-aided design programs as well as manual calculations. We coordinate with manufacturing department personnel and assist them in creating and testing production molds and layouts prior to production.
