Description
Under direction of the Manager - performs diversified duties involving contributing to the maintenance of a positive corporate image by providing clients and affiliated company accounts with the highest possible level of service regarding administration of the Workplace health program. Assure that proper channels of communication between the account and internal areas of St Luke’s are effectively maintained and utilized.
1. Demonstrates Professional Customer Focused Behavior (20%):
Accepts responsibility for own action in relation to professional practice and behavior. Uses written and oral communication to maintain quality care, to enhance staff interaction and to promote the goals and objectives of the Center. Uses appropriate interpersonal techniques to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with co-workers, physicians, patients and significant others. Acts as an employer and patient advocate in any situation and /or setting where deemed necessary. Follows St. Luke's Workplace Health and Infection Control policies and procedures consistently in the provision of patient care. Demonstrates awareness of legal and ethical issues and their impact on professional practice. Participates in in-service and continuing education for both professional and personal growth. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development. Demonstrates knowledge of cultural diversity.
2. Orients patients and significant others: 5%
Identifies self to patients and parent/guardian. In a consultative manner, explains center policies and procedures to patient, employer and payer designee. Identifies provider to patient and parent/guardian.
3. Direct Patient Care Activities: 10%
Assesses Patient Needs According to Employer Requirements as well as Medical Appropriateness/Necessity:
a. Interviews and assesses patient. Reviews assessment summaries noting compliance/variance to prescribed plan of care from previous visits Notifies physician and/or practice manager if assessment indicates a need for immediate intervention/care.
4. Provides Patient Care: 55%
a. Maintains and applies age specific knowledge relevant to the care of the patient population served.
b. Maintain and applies employer specific knowledge to patient care provided.
c. Administers medications and immunizations.
d. Performs procedures related to waived lab procedures.
e. Completes baseline assessment per employer protocol.
f. Carries out therapeutic physician orders and treatment and documents appropriately.
g. Educates patient regarding other ancillary services as needed.
h. Responds competently in emergencies.
i. Is CPR certified.
j. Documents patient/parent teaching regarding specific health problems and individual needs and ability to verbalize understanding compliance.
k. Documents care given in electronic health record.
l. Documents plan of care on initial and follow up visits utilizing knowledge of age specific competence and cultural diversity.
m. Documents information that reflects patient response to previous treatment.
5. Assists in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment: 5%
a. Enforces safety policies according St. Luke's protocol.
b. Observes standard precautions and OSHA guidelines.
c. Reports equipment failure immediately.
d. Compliant with St. Luke's Hospital Confidentiality policy regarding Patient/Employee, System Security and Company Information.
Other Duties (5%):
Protect the confidentiality of information within areas of own position responsibilities by preventing unauthorized release, both verbally and/or in writing.
Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Observe all health and safety requirements.
This position is a non-licensed/certified staff member authorized to transport and/or stock medications to meet specified essential job duties. This includes staff who do not have the authority to prescribe, dispense and/or administer medications.

Education
High school diploma required. RMA, CMA, NCMA, CCMA, ABR-OE, or comparable credential required.
Experience
3-5 years experience in the occupational health preferred. Strong customer service focus. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Teamwork orientation. Organized and able to meet competing priorities.
Successful completion of Safe Medication Handling competency.
Working Conditions
Employee is required to sit continuously and walk occasionally. Employee must lift/carry a light (1 20 lbs.) medium (21 50 lbs.) load occasionally. Employee is frequently required to bend, squat, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to use both hands for simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is frequently exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work. Verbal and cognitive, as well as motor coordination and manual dexterity required. Speech, hearing, and near visual acuity are required. May be required to work weekends and holidays. (Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%) The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
Job Relationships: Member of a comprehensive healthcare team, including other health care providers, the patients, the patient's family and significant others.
Takes direction from: Director – Workplace Health, Medical Director and Practice Operations Manager.
