About Medical Billing Specialist

What does a Medical Billing Specialist do?

As Medical Billing Specialists, we establish and maintain medical records' security to ensure patient confidentiality on an ongoing basis. We review patient records daily for accuracy and ensure compliance with firm policy and regulations. We balance accounts daily, prepare financial balance sheets and submit them to the finance director.

Core tasks:

  • generating revenue by working with patients to establish payment schedules for late accounts
  • evaluating and selecting collection agencies for use in recovering delinquent accounts
  • making sure that staff members are correctly collecting co-pays and payment balances by auditing financial records of patients before each visit
  • accessing patient records as required for review by physicians, technicians, and other medical staff members
  • following professional standards and meeting requirements of local, state, and federal regulations
