About Medical Records Technician

What does a Medical Records Technician do?

We, the medical records technicians, are responsible for organizing and transcribing patients' medical histories accurately, diagnoses and symptoms, as well as categorizing procedures and treatments for insurance billing by designating standard codes using a system for classification. As medical records technicians, we provide fine opportunities for detail-oriented staff who enjoy the responsibility.

Core tasks:

  • completing medical records by reviewing data; notifying deficiencies in records; tracking remaining records; notifying physicians’ director in jeopardy of losing admitting privileges
  • resolving discrepancies of the medical record by collecting and reviewing information
  • keeping equipment functional by following instructions of manufacturers and established procedures
  • contributing to team efforts by achieving related results as required
