Culture and Values
I worked one year as a contractor on the best team of my career. Nice, smart, friendly people doing excellent work in a sane manner. No crazy deadlines, no insane workloads. Lots of work, yes, but metered out in rational amounts. Learning the gig was mostly DIY as there isn't much useful documentation. Patient leadership was great. I was told my gig was "ongoing forever as the work will never run out", but after exactly one year I was told the budget was cut and two contractors had to be let go. I would love to get back to this team. Best gig of my life.

Pros and Cons
Remote, 40 hour weeks, nice coworkers, civilized and respectful.
Besides team budgets being cut, none.

I loved working at Meta for most of my tenure but it got increasingly difficult to get things done, have career growth, and deal with the size and politics of Meta today. Super smart people and innovative products make Meta an interesting place to work.

Pros and Cons
Top benefits, salary, smart people
Tricky to navigate internally, more top-down decision making, and lost trust in recent layoffs.

Culture and Values
I was at Meta for a short time before the culture started to shift. They have AMAZING benefits, the jobs and team are AMAZING, along with management, however they have focused on efficiency and no position has been safe for the last year. It has changed the culture and employees are hurt and scared. The layoffs and restructuring occurred fast, and teams are reeling trying to figure out how to distribute an impossible workload and expected not to morn over huge losses of friends and whole departments.

Pros and Cons
Free food, crazy benefits I would never have dreamed of
Insane long hours and no job security (due to repeated and regular layoffs)
