Metro Transit, owned by Metropolitan Council, is a public transportation company headquartered in Minnesota, United States. It has 125 routes, including 49 urban, 61 express, two light rails, ten suburban local, and more. Metro transit has 84 stations, including 37 light rail, 40 bus rapid transit, and seven commuter rail transit stations. The University of Minnesota, together with Metro Transit Service, operates campus shuttles to facilitate its students, staff, and other faculty members. The drivers and staff members of Metro Transit are monitored through the agency know as Amalgamated Transit Union. It is funded majorly by the State Motor Vehicle Sales Tax, fares, and federal revenues.
