The Miami Dolphins are an American football team headquartered in Miami, Florida. They are a member of the NFL's American Football Conference (AFC) East division and compete in the National Football League (NFL). The team's home games are held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, which is located in the northern suburbs of Miami. Stephen M. Ross is the current owner of the team. The Dolphins are Florida's oldest professional sports team. The Dolphins are the only team in the AFC East division that was not a founding member of the league (AFL). Along with the Atlanta Falcons, the Miami Dolphins were the first football team in the Southeast. Joe Robbie, an attorney and politician, and Danny Thomas, an actor and comedian, formed the Dolphins. They first played their match in the AFL in 1966.
