Originated in 1971, MEI was born of the ideas and ambitions of John Romnes. It happened as a one-man process in a lent farmhouse that has now grown up to a multi-million dollar business with more than 300 workers. MEI built and connected its first cargo elevator in 1973. MEI’s headquarters and the main industrialized plant is situated in Mankato, MN, and hires almost 300 workers. In addition, MEI connects, updates, and services tools inside a 9-state area. MEI focuses on the manufacturing, connection, repair, transformation, and servicing of numerous types of elevators. MEI is approved, protected, and joined elevator contractor.
