MiraCosta College is a public community college in California that serves coastal North San Diego County. It has two campuses, one in eastern Oceanside and the other in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, as well as a number of satellite locations, including the Community Learning Center in western Oceanside. MiraCosta first opened its doors in 1934. At Oceanside High School, classes began in a wing. MiraCosta was formerly known as Oceanside-Carlsbad Junior College. There were 122 students and 20 faculty members enrolled. It was San Diego County's second community college to open its doors. At first, just 16 courses were available, and they counted toward advanced standing at the University of California.
