National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was established in 1909 while responding to the continued violence and discrimination against black people across the US. It is the largest and most recognizable civil rights organization in the United States having over 200 units and branches across the country along with passionate and determined activists numbering more than 2 million. The organization’s mission is to secure and safeguard educational, social, political, and economic equality of fundamental rights in order to eliminate discrimination on the basis of color, race, and ensure the well-being and health security of all people. Being a c4 organization, the organization also has a c3 partner organization known as NAACP Empowerment Programs. The organization envisions a society filled with individuals with equal rights and no discrimination on the basis of race.
