NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is a fundamental space research laboratory which was launched on May 1, 1959 located approximately 6.5 miles northeast of Washington D.C. in Greenbelt, Maryland, United States. It is the initial Space flight center of NASA and employs about 10,000 civil servants and contractors along with that it is one of the ten principle NASA field centers which is named in recognition of American rocket propulsion pioneer Robert H. Goddard. It is partly inside the initial Goddard census-designated place and along with that it has a Greenbelt address. GSFC is a fundamental US laboratory for developing and operating unmanned scientific spacecraft and also conducts scientific investigation, development, manufacturing and operation of space systems, and development of related technologies. The scientists of Goddard Space Flight Center can develop and support a mission, and its engineers and technicians can design and create the spacecraft for that mission.
