National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are an agency that aim to make transportation safer by conducting independent accident investigations, deciding pilot and mariner certification appeals, and advocating safety improvements. They are an independent Federal agency charged with investigating every civil aviation accident in the United States. They also look into significant accidents in other modes of transportation such as marine and pipeline, railroads, and highways. The agency determines probable cause of an accident and issues safety recommendations aimed at preventing any future ones. They have their headquarters at Washington, DC and over 400 employees.
