Neuroleadership was invented by David Rock in 2007. He and his colleagues had been involved in leadership formation and executive coaching for ten years. They found that taking a more concrete, science-based approach to developing soft skills would not only appeal to corporate owners but would also improve the effectiveness of any reform effort. NLI presented the field's seminal articles in its early years, including the first article on the SCARF ® Model. They started out providing executive coaching, but as interest grew, they began consulting with companies, ultimately helping to launch a trend to do performance assessment without traditional ratings.
