What does a News Producer do?

As News Producer, we gather information, stories, and pieces from team members. We collaborate with the news director to select and prioritize content. We add stories and elements to the broadcast. We work with reporters and anchors. We also supervise the overall content and flow of news distribution. We ensure the clean execution of newscasts and are relevant to current events and meet audience preferences.

Core tasks:

  • administer efficient delivery of news
  • work to improve viewership base through the improved presentation
  • select sound bites and footage to include in a broadcast to ensure consistency
  • liaise with the production team and keep technical standards high
  • communicate with the anchors and studio crew while on-air
