It was the worst place to work I had ever been in manger was not truthful and very cunning. The employees that had been working there for 20+years was not friendly at all. I got wrote up for having corvid no knowing I had it. I didn't find out that HR was in the building until my third write up. I was not welcome at all I got lied on every day instead of them telling me I made a mistake they would post it on email so everyone could see .I didn't even no I was doing wrong until I was being wrote up for it I worked there 3 months then I was fired for not knowing my job. They got me in there and out as soon as they were able to never asking me how I felt about anything i felt not wanted the first week, the crazy thing about the whole deal i was there Security lead for four years.

Never have I ever been surrounded by youth and wisdom. Northrop Grumman is an awesome company. My employment was cut short due to an FMLA violation after the death of my younger brother due to cancer. All in all, Northrop is a great place for Engineers at any stage in their careers. Two thumbs up!!

I started my career as an engineering aid/intern converted over to full time engineer after graduating. I am/was in the structures group doing development work and structural analysis for roughly 6 years. The work is always changing an reward. NG is horrible when it comes to salary and promotions. My work was always appreciated and received positive feedback. Trying to get a promotion 6 months early I was told you have to meet “time” as an engineer requirements by managers then later I find out some of my peers were promoted early or brought on as a level 2 with less experience and no master degree. If you want to keep up with the market and get ahead pay wise you will need to leave after 3 to 5 years. NG values new hires more than current employees.

Pros and Cons
Interesting work and professional development working with senior engineers.
They don’t keep up with market and pay. Value new hires with less experience.

My first project assignment was very interesting - learned a lot and met many great people around the country. Real sense of contributing to something important. After that project was finished, my subsequent project assignments were much less rewarding and didn't utilize my skillset all that much. In addition, the employer was beginning a period of heavy cutbacks and layoffs. The people with whom I had worked were all gone and large components of the organization were being sold off.

Pros and Cons
opportunity to learn/travel/grow/use my skillset
inconsistent culture, cutbacks and layoffs cost me a potential career

The facility was constructed in 1906 and most of the underground water piping was original and in very bad condition. One morning on while surveying one of the welding and fabricating workshops, a huge geyser erupted inside the building and uplifted a large section of concrete flooring. Water was raining down on all of the electrical switch gear creating a shock hazard everywhere in the vicinity. The pipeline that blew out was a 16 inch fire-main and was flowing at 160 psi. Nobody knew where the local isolation valve was so we had to secure the entire system that supported the 90 acre facility. No one was injured thankfully and the incident began an expensive campaign to replace all of the underground utility systems.

Been working for this company for ten years and some of the employees that I worked with were ok. some I got along with. others i did not. management was not even in the top five as far as claiming to support you and looking out for you instead they were looking out for themselves. My thing is if you work there, it might be a place as far as a career change but for the most part, more likely you will be walking on eggshells.

After 26 years of ever increasing responsibility with Northrop Grumman I decided to retire. Two years after my retirement I was requested by Grumman Procurement management to return. I returned as a contract employee with PDS Tech to fulfill a position of Subcontract Administrator. During my last two years with the company I was involved with the company relocation of operation from Bethpage, NY to Melbourne, FL. I was assigned the responsibility to manage and supervise various procurement contracts during this relocation process. Once the Bethpage facility closed, my contract assignment with PDS Tech ended.

I worked close to 10 years straight for NOC and found it a worthwhile work experience. During that time, the facility in Melbourne was primarily involved in the development and support of the E8-C USAF project (aka Joint STARS). I was on engineering development projects and also worked major proposal efforts. I started as a development engineer moved along to project lead and did some functional management as well. I decided to leave as I tired of the uneven 'feast or famine' work environment (i.e., periods of intense work including continuous overtime requirements followed by periods of not much to keep me occupied). Project wise, it was an unstable environment that often found you tossed around different programs working for different task masters.

Pros and Cons
Provided the ability to interact with other engineers in differing disciplines.
Unstable project environment with inconsistent workloads.

Been there for about 5 years and had to admit that, based on my personal view, this is perhaps the worst major aerospace company that I have been involved in my 25+ years career with many other major aerospace companies. New management leadership is incredibly poor and lack of leadership experience even though I thought old management team would be much better if they were not disappointed with the future path of business growth, and therefore most of the experienced leadership folks decided to leave the company just prior to my departure. The company has consistently mistreated talents and intentionally ignored to promote or reward the skilled employees. I will never think for a second to come back to work for this company even if I am unemployed.

Pros and Cons
Big company with great chance of job security. Some team members are good to work with.
