As Nurse Externs, we are responsible for providing basic patient care. We perform routine treatment procedures and contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. We ensure compliance with the hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. We assist nursing staff in complicated treatment procedures and take and record vital signs, including temperature, weight, height, and blood pressure. Collecting, labeling, and transporting specimens is part of our daily responsibilities. We transport equipment, supplies, and charts. We make rounds, handle patient requests, and report changes in patient’s conditions. Working as Nurse Externs, we monitor patient’s behavior and perform basic patient and family assistance tasks. We also clean patient care rooms, equipment, and instruments, and maintain appropriate PAR levels.
