Position Summary Nurse Practitioner High Risk Clinic Compass Oncology is the Pacific Northwests leader in providing comprehensive, compassionate, and collaborative care. Uniquely taking a holistic approach, our practice offers a wide range of services for patients all along the health spectrum. While direct care for patients with a cancer diagnosis is what we are known for, we provide services and support for those at risk for a future oncological abnormality. Our High Risk clinic supports patients that have a known or suspected Genetic Mutation, strong family history, or non-cancerous malignancies monitor their health and provide tools to maintain wellness. We are looking for a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to support this booming clinic as it continues to grow. Seeing patients in our Vancouver Cancer Center as well as our newest facility in Tigard, OR, you will work with our providers, and medical professionals in the community, serve patients more prone to a cancer diagnosis. While direct Oncology experience is preferred, experience in a specialty can be translated to this role. Employment Type : Full Time, 0.8 FTE (approx 32hr/week) Benefits : M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k) Location : Tigard, OR and Vancouver, WA JOB SCOPE: Nurse Practitioner SCOPE: Provides primary care in collaborative joint practice with the physicians to patients that are, or might be, at high risk for a cancer diagnosis. Scope of responsibility includes expert practitioner, educator/teacher, care management, consultant, nurse researcher, and nurse leader. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Nurse Practitioner ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage personal caseload of patients deemed or believed to be at high risk for a cancer diagnosis. Collaborate with internal physicians and services including Oncology Physicians, Genetic Counselors, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Assesses, plan, implement and evaluate care for individual patients. Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation. Assesses patient/family needs and provides education. Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Promotes/provides staff education. Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice. Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements. Completes patient charge tickets. Provides case management for oncology clients and their families. Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials. May supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff. May mentor new mid-level providers Nurse Practitioner MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum of three (3) years post MSN. Oncology, GYN/Breast, or other High Risk Specialty strongly preferred. Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Current OR RN and NP license required; Current RN/NP license in both OR and WA strongly preferred. Current CPR certification required. AOCN certification strongly preferred.
