About Nurse Practitioner

What does a Nurse Practitioner do?

As Nurse Practitioners, we are responsible for assessing patients through interviews and physical examination. We also educate patients about overall health and wellness. We provide counsel and medical treatment to patients. Developing and implementing patient management plans is also part of our responsibility. We also recommend diagnostic interventions. We analyze the patient's physical findings and symptoms. Working as Nurse Practitioners, we are responsible for diagnosing acute health care problems such as illness and injuries. We detect, respond, and report adverse drug reactions. Some of us all also prescribe medication. Finally, we schedule follow-up visits to monitor a patient's health condition.

Core tasks:

  • analyzing and interpreting results of diagnostic tests
  • maintaining and updating the complete medical history of patients
  • monitoring and coordinating patient care and staff activities
  • referring patients for primary care conditions
