Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants of Illinois has an immediate opening to provide patient care in our Ortho Urgent Care Clinical setting. This position is 100% clinical and pays $200.00 for each 4-hour shift during the week and $300.00 for each 4-hour shift on Saturdays. This is a PRN position with no benefits requiring the availability of a minimum of 2 shifts per month with an ocassional Saturday. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A NP/PA ASSISTANT IN URGENT CARE As an NP or PA Assistant in Urgent Care, you spend the majority of your shifts in direct care at our Oak Lawn and Orland Park Urgent Ortho Care outpatient clinics. In this position, you love doing what you originally went into the medical field to do, helping people progress You see patients, set up treatment plans, and document everything. You participate in both initial evaluations and the longitudinal care of outpatients. You play a crucial role in their treatments. After greeting patients warmly and listening to their concerns, you study their medical histories and perform physical examinations. You develop and implement treatment plans. You make appropriate referrals for consultations. You provide prescriptions for medications to accomplish the treatment plan within the scope of the supervising physician's written delegated prescriptive authority. You are always conscientious about completing appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered. You also provide pre- and post-operative patient education to patients and their families. You respond to telephone inquiries from patients and make appropriate recommendations. You communicate with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment. Additionally, you provide follow up and health maintenance care including the appropriate adjustment of medications in response to specific instructions from the Attending Physician. You get great satisfaction out of seeing your patients heal and enjoy a better quality of life QUALIFICATIONS Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois Federal DEA and Illinois Mid-level Practitioner Controlled Substance License Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Completion of an accredited physician assistant program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Certification by NCCPA Experience reading X-rays Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs Ability to travel between our Oak Lawn and Orland Park locations Are you a team player who always puts patients first? Are you able to explain technical health issues and treatment plans in layman's terms? If so, then you might just be perfect for this position WORK SCHEDULE NP/PA's work as needed to help cover shifts on Monday-Thursday from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon.
