About Oncology Specialist

What does an Oncology Specialist do?

As an oncology specialist, we are responsible for dealing with cancer patients. We play our role in diagnosing the diseases and manage the patient throughout the course. While the patient is on his road to recovery, we continuously monitor his progress, administer medications, provide them with therapies and counsel them at every step. Our job also requires us to keep a check on the side effects of drugs and medicines. We also perform the necessary tasks such as recording patient’s data, monitoring the treatment plans, and changing them when required.

Core tasks:

  • explaining the pros and cons of treatments to patients
  • helping patients with pain management and psychological impacts of cancer
  • leading cancer treatment meetings
  • performing surgical procedures to remove cancerous tumors
