The Operations and Planning Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the asset-based divisions. The individual successful in this role will work together with the CEO to implement strategic planning initiatives and implement structural changes in the planning and customer service fields. They will be responsible for the development of the overall strategic direction and business plan including P&L, annual budget and leading an aggressive asset-based growth plan. Key objectives include identifying and driving opportunities for growth and revenue improvement throughout the regions and implementation of cost and process optimization opportunities. Objective is to grow the asset-based fleet profitably, increase service levels, optimize cross-divisional fleet performance through effective load and driver planning initiatives, and achieve operational excellence as a Best in Class organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Experience growing a carrier into larger entity (sales growth, target market penetration, account management). Ability to guide operations for a fleet size (1000 or more) including planning, customer service, and fleet management. Personnel management starting at 20 associates and expanding. Build KPI’s & metric reporting to measure success. Responsible for strategic business planning & tactical execution. Champion a consistent commitment to Drivers & Independent Contractors - Understanding of driver retention strategies and programs. Ability to identify performance obstacles and cost reduction opportunities. Full understanding and utilization of TMW software. Lead the service enhancement, retention and growth of the dedicated transportation business. Champion the operational support of brokerage and agent business. Update and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, standards and procedures in alignment with a growing carrier’s needs. Computer Literate: Microsoft suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), TMW (AS400). Position Requirements: Transportation operational management (10 years) Experience with fleet sizes of 500 power units or more. Experience with mergers and acquisitions. Experience with Windows based operating systems and TMW. Deep and proven operating experience for a U.S. OTR carrier with a large and complex transportation network. Travel anticipated at 25% Residence: Portland, OR.
