As airfield or airport operations superintendents, we are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of an airfield or airport. Operations are usually divided to Airfield, Landside or Terminal operations. Often each of these specialties is assigned its own operations superintendent, but in some cases the role encompasses all three specialties. The Airfield assignment involves directing the day-to-day airfield operational activities of the airport. The Landside assignment involves monitoring and supervising ground transportation operations. The Terminal management assignment involves coordinating construction activities and conferring with airlines and building tenants to ensure adequacy and efficiency of terminal operations. It is required that all of the above operations meet the requirements of all applicable regulations. Ensuring this is also our responsibility.
