About Ophthalmic Technician

What does an Ophthalmic Technician do?

As ophthalmic technicians, we work with eye specialists to provide the patient the help and care needed during the treatment. We make sure that the patient is comfortable and is doing well after the treatment. We take the medical history of the patient and perform the other tests, as suggested by the senior optician. Our job role requires us to make the appointment schedules and to communicate the schedule and the appointed time to the patient. Taking vision and other such tests also is our responsibility.

Core tasks:

  • guiding the patient regarding the medicines and care after treatment
  • performing managerial duties and handling the office
  • supervising the rest of the optometry staff and training them when needed
