About Optical Dispenser

What does an Optical Dispenser do?

As optical dispensers, we are responsible for measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specification. We assist client with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses. We also assist client with selecting frames. In addition, we are charged with measuring customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription. We prepare work order for optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames. Further, we verify exactness of finished lens spectacles. At times we are required to shape or reshape frames.

Core tasks:

  • measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription
  • assisting client with inserting,
  • removing, and caring for contact lenses.
  • assisting client with selecting frames
  • measuring customer for size of eyeglasses and frames
  • verifying exactness of finished lens spectacles.
