Pacificorp is a privately directed energy utility company founded in 1912 and owned by a continental holding company, Berkshire Hathaway. Pacificorp is directed and controlled by a successful businessman, Gregory E. Abel. Pacificorp has two headquarters in the U.S: Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power. Pacific Power has its base in Portland, Oregon and it offers service to the Oregon, California, and Washington community. In contrast, Rocky Power has its headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, and serves Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah community.
Pacificorp offers energy service to over 1.8 million customers in six western states. The company is renowned for its exclusive electricity and gas service, with a total of 68 generating plants. The company's thermal electric units generate a total resource capacity of 10,556 megawatts. 70.6% of its generation is from thermal sources (about 56% coal, and 24% natural gas), 10% from hydroelectric sources, and 0.2% from renewable sources. PacifiCorp is also involved in coal mining, oil, natural gas, gold, silver, and uranium. The company generates up to $5.07 billion annually.
