Title: Parts Technical Support Specialist

Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position

This position is eligible for a flexible or telework work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Parts Technical Support Specialist for John Deere in the North American Parts Distribution Center (NA-PDC) located in Milan, IL you will assist channel partner/field teams with complex issues related to service parts. In addition, you will:

  • Coach and advise channel partners to enable them to use all available tools and resources to resolve technical part problems

  • Interface with NA-PDC and other Regional Distribution Centers on issues related to service parts

  • Process improvements related to case/content volume and responsiveness

What Skills You Need

  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office plus intranet and internet functions

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following systems: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications

  • Demonstrated skills in developing, managing, and communicating information in a clear and organized fashion

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Understanding of activities, their sequence and measurement, and the ability to facilitate implementation of process and participate in process

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Customer support experience with customer interaction regarding products, parts, and services

  • Field experience with regular customer contact, knowledge of dealer/distribution network, limited geographic area of responsibility, and broad product knowledge

  • Experience external to John Deere within similar industries and disciplines

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Management, Engineering, Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy, Marketing, or equivalent discipline

Tasks

  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.

  • Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  • Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
  • Modify and customize commercial programs for internal needs.
  • Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
  • Conduct office automation feasibility studies, including workflow analysis, space design, or cost comparison analysis.
  • Read trade magazines and technical manuals, or attend conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of hardware and software.
  • Hire, supervise, and direct workers engaged in special project work, problem solving, monitoring, and installing data communication equipment and software.
