About Pattern Maker

What does a Pattern Maker do?

As Pattern Makers, we are responsible for creating templates that are used in the production of different industrial products. We deal with the formation of designs for mass-produced products such as shoes, furniture, clothing, or plasticware. Our job is to design models into factory patterns after translating blueprints. We use drafting software or freehand measurement techniques during pattern production. We design the final pattern for mass production while working in a factory or industry. Our job is to translate the ideas of the designer into a reliable and repeatable pattern.

Core tasks:

  • discuss the base design by meeting with product designers
  • use freehand techniques and computer drafting software to create rough-draft templates
  • cutting the designs as per the specification and required material
