What does a Payroll do?

As a Payroll Specialist, our primary responsibilities include managing and executing payroll processes to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. We maintain payroll systems, keeping employee information up to date and compliant with tax regulations. We address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees and management. We also prepare and distribute payroll reports, and collaborate with HR and finance departments to handle benefits and deductions. By ensuring accurate payroll processing, we contribute to the overall financial health and employee satisfaction of the organization.

Core tasks:

  • Collecting and verifying employee timekeeping information for payroll processing.
  • Calculating wages, overtime, and deductions to prepare payroll.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Updating payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
  • Generating payroll reports and statements for management.
