Position Title: Payroll Lead
Reports To: Payroll Manager
The successful candidate will be the lead subject matter expert in the payroll area working alongside 10 payroll specialist leading all payroll tasks. Payroll Depart manages 6 distinct multi-state payroll cycles for over 30,000 employees to ensure accuracy of payroll reports, time sheets, spreadsheets, etc. while following compliance and bank policies, as well as state and federal regulations. This position will respond to inquiries and/or requests for data and/or reports and provide timely and accurate information. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, independent thinking, self-starter, tactical/functional leadership with the payroll staff to ensure tasks are getting completed accurately and timely. It will also contain some level of involvement in various other department projects which may include HR/Benefits/Audit/Finance/HRIS/Compensation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions of the Position):
Accurate and timely processing of each payroll, including appropriate uploads, documentation, and necessary approvals are received as required.
Manage Workday Work flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
Maintain accurate and complete payroll records in a timely and highly organized manner, to successfully pass periodic internal and external audits and reviews.
Follow up, communicate with management and employees on unapproved timecards weekly and on-going to ensure the payroll cutoff deadlines are met.
Calculate earnings, deductions and/or taxes, including retro-pay, merit increases, terminations, garnishments, federal taxes, etc.
Understand proper taxation of employee and employer paid benefits.
Execute Time and Attendance Files from various EMR Systems and interface with Work day payroll.
Process off cycle manual payroll payments outside of the standard payroll cycles.
Respond to employee relation incidences and assist to resolve.
Assist in data gathering for audits and subpoenas.
Ability to make independent decisions related to payroll processing
Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including, but not limited to the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Documentation Standards.
Minimum of 5 years of automated payroll
Minimum of 5 years of fast paced customer
Experience with in-house payroll
Previous project and leadership
Associates Degree or equivalent training and education is
Payroll Experience with Multi State payrolls.
Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.
Strong time management
Strong written and verbal communication skills; appropriately communicates with all levels of customers from assistants to Sr. Executive.
Ability to adapt to changing
Ability to analyze/interpret data and take appropriate
Ability to train and work with other employees in a large group setting.
Ability to be an independent thinker/self-starter with minimal supervision
