Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:The primary focus of this position is to manage the maintenance of the Human Resources Department with emphasis on Payroll and Benefits as well as Information Systems Management, in addition to other HR duties as assigned. This position serves as a technical point of contact for assigned functional areas and assists subject matter experts with payroll administration, benefits administration, data availability, testing of system changes, process improvement opportunities and end user training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Compensation Administration• Manage the weekly payroll process including timesheet completion, manager signoffs and final review.• Consult with employees and managers regarding wages, hours, work rules and specific requirements of ADA, FLSA, FMLA, WISHA/OSHA, EEO, etc. Ensures awareness of international employment law.• Coach management on compensation, internal equity and market-based research. Research, analyze and perform job and compensation analysis for local and global exempt and non-exempt roles.• Analyzes payroll data; and uses automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll.Benefits Administration• Manage benefit administration to include management of enrollment, providing customer service to all customers and collaboration regarding payments and deductions.• Calculate, verify and approve payment amounts for health benefits, 401(k) payments, L&I premiums, and other payroll benefits.• Manage preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, year-end, and ad hoc reports (e.g. gross payroll, hours worked, PTO accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).• Work with claims management vendors and the Department of Labor and Industries and Employment Security Department to administer workers compensation and unemployment compensation claims.HR System Projects/Process• Recommend and manage process/procedure improvements within the HR Department to include innovation solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established systems that enhance and drive HR functions in a growing environment.• Drive HR projects as assigned by Director of Human Resources and continuously improve HR processes.CORE COMPETENCIES: • Action Oriented • Communicate Effectively • Customer Focus • Drives Results • Instills Trust PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:• 2-5 years’ experience with multi-state payroll processing and administration• Experience with state employment and unemployment programs, laws and policies.• Experience in Ultimate Software preferred• Extensive Excel experience (pivot tables, complex BI reporting)• Cognos experience a plus PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Compute wages and deductions, and enter data into computers.
  • Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
