About Personal Support Worker

What does a Personal Support Worker do?

As Personal Support Workers, we are responsible for observing care plans and reporting changes in our clients’ behavior to the registered healthcare specialists. We work under the guidance of Registered Healthcare Professionals such as Registered Practical Nurses to manage the conditions and wellbeing of our clients. We are tasked with helping our clients with ambulation, transferring, and positioning them using mechanical lifts. It is our responsibility to provide total personal care services such as bathing, toileting, and perineal care. We assist our clients to achieve their recovery potential through self-actualization. We report the clinical changes to registered Nurses and Managers.

Core tasks:

  • observing patients care plans
  • managing conditions of our clients
  • helping our clients to move from one place to the other
  • assisting clients to achieve their recovery plans
