SUMMARY: As the member of the pharmacy team, the Pharmacist is responsible for managing the total operation of your pharmacy, which includes scheduling, weekly and period budgets, procurement and personnel. You will be responsible for developing a team committed to the highest standards in patient service. The pharmacist will oversee the dispensing of pen needles and syringes in cooperative support of our associated DME. Pharmacist will also oversee inventory, pricing, licensing and record management. In addition, to the training and scheduling you will spearhead staff motivation in working toward define objectives of your pharmacy team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

· Fill and scan pen needle & syringe prescriptions and counsel customers on proper use of these diabetic supplies.

· Monitor all state, local and federal laws that pertain to pharmacy and assure compliance.

· Monitor demographics of area and customer needs, i.e., retirement complexes, senior citizen homes, nursing homes, hospitals, apartment complexes, young couples, schools, etc.

· Assist in maintenance of pharmacy inventory to achieve proper service and inventory budgets.

· Maintain all record keeping necessary for legal compliance, Accounting policy and other reports requested.

· Assist in monitoring the three most meaningful competitors in pharmacy and their prescriptions filled per week.

· Create pharmacy image of service, friendliness and cooperativeness with customers, employees and outside vendors.

· Maintain clean, neat work area, including work counter, shelves, floor, etc., and customer counter to present a professional, sanitary, organized image to customers.

· Maintain proper records, inventory and security on all supplies.

· Receive all merchandise per company guidelines.

· Insure all “out-of-date” product is returned for credit.

· Maintain current and organize all policy manuals, reference books, state laws and required equipment and verify all staff knowledgeable of use.

· Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and skill of pharmacy.

· All other duties assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.

· Must hold license in good standing certified by the State Board of Pharmacy in Michigan.

· Minimum one (1) – two (2) years of experience in pharmacy setting.

· Supervisory experience.

· Working knowledge of QS1 software in strongly recommended.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have and maintain in good standing professional license, certificate or registration.

  • Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
