About Pharmacy Manager

What does a Pharmacy Manager do?

As Pharmacy Managers, we are to remain responsible for overseeing the daily business operations of a pharmacy, including dispensing prescription medication and advising clients. Our other duties include managing the pharmacy staff and the inventory and ensuring the safe storage of prescription drugs and controlled substances. We may also review prescription details. We are further responsible for advising customers about the recommended use, dosage, and possible side-effects of medication.

Core tasks:

  • maintaining an approved drug and controlled substances list and verifying expiry dates
  • ordering pharmacy supplies and controlling the inventory on a daily basis
  • enforcing best practice protocols when storing prescription drugs and controlled substances
  • verifying prescription details with the healthcare specialists who prescribed them, when required
