As Police Lieutenants, we lead the assigned division of the Police Department. We work under the supervision of the Police Caption. We direct as well as manage the team of Police Sergeants. In the absence of the Chief of Police, we have full line authority. We train as well as develop subordinates. Besides this, we coordinate performance appraisals based on performance. We have to frame protocols, objectives, as well as goals for the division. As Police Lieutenants, we identify loopholes in the administration. We recommend changes to the Chief of Police. Our responsibility includes resolving complaints of citizens. Coordinating with division members, we prepare a detailed report of the incidents. We review case histories as well as keep a check on the crime rate.
