About Policy Specialist

What does a Policy Specialist do?

Working as Policy Specialists, we research and communicate global policies that impact broad-reaching issues of safety. We coordinate team processes, and multiple large projects. It is our duty to contribute to investigations of high-profile and grey area policy issues. We support strategy and policy development. It is our duty to assist in operations coordination. We monitor activities to foster alignment of operations with directions and strategies. We assist in resource mobilization initiatives. Supporting strategic planning and policy coordination is a part of our job.

Core tasks:

  • formulate and review strategy and policy papers
  • provide support to Management on strategic planning issues
  • support interagency cooperation with other development organizations
  • provide advice on aid effectiveness-related activities
  • disseminate relevant information to increase awareness about various strategic and policy initiatives
  • provide leadership and support to reporting staff
  • supervise the performance of reporting staff
  • provide regular monitoring and feedback on performance
