Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) was founded in 1883 by Captain John B. Ford and John Pitcairn. This Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based firm is a supplier of paints, coatings, optical products, and specialty materials worldwide. PPG helps customers in transportation, industrial, consumer products and customer markets to enhance more surfaces in more ways. PPG partners with GIVIT for the ‘In It Together’ campaign. On October 12, 2020 PPG debuted PPG ENVIROCRON Max extreme corrosion polyester powder topcoat. Michael H. McGarry is the Chief Executive Officer of PPG. PPG operates in more than 70 countries around the world with around almost 47,000 employees. PPG is one of the supreme coating companies in the world by revenue followed by AkzoNobel. PPG was the world’s first plate glass plant to power its furnaces with regionally produced natural gas. Pitcairn served as a director of PPG from its start, its president from 1895 to 1905 and its chairman from 1894 until his death.
