The healthcare headquarters is located in Kirksville, and also operates in four states; Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Preferred Family Health Care offers Mental Service, Behavioral Health Service, Substance Use Service, Development Disabilities Service, Child Welfare Service, and Medical Support Service. Preferred Family Healthcare was established in 1979. Preferred Family Health Care is currently headed by Mr. Michael Schwend as the president & CEO. The healthcare core values are embedded in its Employees Excellence, Opportunities, Responsiveness, and Clinical Competency. The healthcare vision is to provide behavioral health services in the Communities which it serves. I was coupled with in-patient adolescents in need of mental health care as well as drug dependency. I received my masters internship there with the promise of a raise after 1 year of employment. After one year plus I never received any raise or promotion.

Pros and Cons
Friendly co-workers and good competent supervisors.
No advancement.

I would not work there as a BHT, because there are no pros and a lot of cons. You do not have an outside life. Be expected to pick up shifts too

I’ve worked with a preferred on and off since 2019, and the supervisors have proven time and time again that they are poor communicator and funny truly care about you unless you have something to offer them

You get paid early sometimes
Terrible communication. Rude supervisors. No flexibility
