About Preparator

What does a Preparator do?

As preparators, we assist the curators and collection managers. We plan and design the science and art exhibits. We are responsible for the installation of the exhibits. Our duties include designing and constructing the display cases and crates. We pack and maintain the collections and move them. We implement and research secure methods for displays. Above all, we ensure the installation of patron control systems and security systems. We oversee the security of collections. We are responsible for maintaining the documentation of the collection. Some of us also provide designs for the exhibits. We take part in the composition and designing of the newsletters, flyers, and press releases.
