About Prepress Technician

What does a Prepress Technician do?

As prepress technicians, we set the basis for printing production. We ensure the proper appearance and format of the images and texts. We ensure the proper layout of images and texts before final printing. We optimize the images and text for brochures, magazines, and newspapers. Our duties also include using electronic and print files on special software for corrections. We use the software for color, image, and text corrections. We set up the printing presses for producing plate and film proofs. We enter and retrieve information on the devices. We store the information on the computers. We change the text size and position through computers. Some of us also arrange papers for proper printing.

Core tasks:

  • cleaning and adjusting the equipment
  • operating the equipment and maintain it
  • analyzing the images for errors
