What does a Priest do?
As priests, we are responsible for preaching, teaching and exhorting. We teach the doctrines of the gospel without discrimination. We have the authority to ordain teachers of the word of God, deacons and other priests whenever authorized by the branch president or the bishop. We plan, coordinate, write and conduct all the weekly services basing on the traditions of the parish/synagogue. We organize for outreach services to the surrounding communities with an aim of supporting the needy in the society. We are tasked at presenting the tithes and offerings to the Lord after receiving them from members of our parish.
Core tasks:
- ordaining the junior priests into service
- displaying impartiality when disseminating the core duties and responsibilities
- effectively communicating the principles of the gospel to people
- honestly presenting tithes and offerings to the Lord without any alteration
