The biggest problem I had was that I was not able to get my retro pay because I was not given credit for my years of experience

The administration was highly unsupportive and detached from my operational requirements as an educator including personal security. Serious students' cases including possession of dangerous weapons, possession of drugs, verbal abuse, real or near physical abuse with condoms and/or other degrading objects were swept under the carpet. The paraprofessional allocated to me was extremely hostile. She was highly sarcastic and would sometimes openly dispute some of my teachings and/or instructions to learners. In all the unsavory incidents that I had with students or the paraprofessionals, the administration would seek to subtly blame the incident/s on me as the educator. Sadly, the popular educators' union that I had subscribed to was highly toothless - they never responded to my calls or emails. Against that background, I was left with no option but to tender my resignation. I'm actually still sorely traumatized by those nusty experiences and I'll never ever consider teaching again.
