About Production Assistant

What does a Production Assistant do?

As production assistants, we mainly provide assistance in the production of a project, which could be a feature film, short film, or a TV show. This includes performing a number of tasks, including helping prepare the sets with lights, props, and the necessary equipment. We also have to assist other departments with their work. Some of these other departments include costume designers and the people working behind the camera. Additionally, we also have to perform certain clerical duties, such as answering phones on behalf of someone else and dealing with paperwork. We also have to escort actors around the set.

Core tasks:

  • helping prepare lights, camera, and other equipment
  • printing and distributing scripts and call sheets
  • ensuring the general public stays away from the sets
