Started in 1859 by the Sisters of Providence (Montreal), Providence Health & Services is a non-profit Catholic health care system operating multiple hospitals across 6 states, with headquarters in Renton, WA. The health system includes 27 hospitals, more than 35 non-acute facilities and numerous other health, supportive housing and educational services in the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California as well as Montana, New Mexico, and Texas. The organization's mission is to be steadfast in serving all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
