What does a Purchasing Coordinator do?

As Purchasing Coordinators, we are responsible for purchasing materials, products and services. We evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, products, distribution capability and availability. Some of us renegotiate purchasing contracts that are about to expire. We often spend a significant time making orders for goods and services. We track the progress of active orders and shipments and address problems.

Core tasks:

  • evaluate and research products and suppliers
  • create and negotiate purchasing contracts with suppliers
  • keep track and complete documentation of purchased goods and services
