About Quality Control Scientist

What does a Quality Control Scientist do?

As quality control specialists, we are responsible for testing the finished products to ascertain that they are free from faults and serve the intended purpose. We also ensure that they were produced based on the appropriate specification and external guidelines. We test samples of produced items to verify there is consistency. We are also tasked with identifying product defects or potential issues and establishing the resolution methods. We similarly maintain records of results for testing and assessing product defects, which provide trail for accountability and reporting of errors. We foster process improvements by providing quality assurance and suggesting areas of improvement. We are also tasked with ensuring correction of defects in products that may not require channeling the product back to the production process.
